Continuing our recent theme of individual project reports, here we bring you the ZKsync Special, covering the recent key announcements, technical breakthroughs, and essential updates in the @zksync ecosystem
@zksync made a major announcement about the project's integration with @fermah_xyz for decentralized proof generation: https://x.com/zksync/status/1901685917070274832…
Proof generation requires significant computational resources and multiple layers of recursion. Without an optimized system such as Fermah's, this process can become a bottleneck for blockchain scalability. Fermah operates as a universal proof market, connecting proof requests from ZKsync with decentralized prover nodes managed through @eigenlayer.
This ensures:
• Complete resilience through decentralization
• Reduced proof generation costs via market competition
• Improved scalability through optimized resource allocation
When ZKsync submits a proof request, Fermah processes it using three key components:
• The workflow engine coordinates the proof generation process
• The matchmaker finds the most cost-effective operator
• The storage layer ensures reliability and checkpointing
• The matchmaker dynamically analyzes the network to efficiently allocate
resources, maintaining a balance between speed and cost.
With Fermah, ZKsync gains a scalable, efficient, and decentralized proof mechanism, setting an entirely new proof generation standard for zkRollups and other zero-knowledge applications
@vanishree_rao, Founder of @fermah_xyz: https://x.com/vanishree_rao/status/1901683942073545116… "@the_matter_labs and Fermah are partnering to take ZK to a much bigger mass! We’ve spent months working closely with the Matter Labs team, proving that proof markets are not just useful but inevitable. This is just the beginning."
@anthonykrose, CTO at Matter Labs (in response to Vanishree's post): https://x.com/anthonykrose/status/1902343751734882322…"One of the biggest challenges ahead for the ZKsync Elastic Network is achieving prover scalability beyond centralized proving clusters. As the sequencer scales up to ~10K TPS, we’ll need massive proving capacity. Decentralization is key, and we’re excited about the progress!"
@zksync’s Elastic Network now hosts @WonderFi new L2 blockchain and wallet, giving users secure, scalable access to DeFi: https://zksync.mirror.xyz/IbTIX-s1Vx1PjxcYCom_9aGNXSsTvzsHsxgRGkmpx7M… Built to remove gas fees for basic transactions, WonderFi’s ZK Chain and wallet connect users to DeFi services like lending and trading, while also serving as a platform for developers to launch decentralized applications.
ZKsync have also launched a six-month Community Program to engage contributors in shaping its ecosystem. Funded with over 5 million ZK tokens allocated for rewards, participants can earn incentives for roles like moderators, captains, and active members. Managed by @gitcoin, the program emphasizes transparency, monthly evaluations, and community-led governance, with onboarding and activities already underway: https://zksync.mirror.xyz/ABCMvRKrYVEa3dzqqHakAGFF7QwzTSUt5xQh3Ey7i9k
@zksync were one of the core sponsors of @Zk_Hub_Global, a @HouseofZK event recently held in partership with @EthereumDenver: https://x.com/i/broadcasts/1yNGaLzAgLvKj…
On Day 1, @anthonykrose, CTO of @the_matter_labs, participated in a fireside chat with @vanishree_rao, Founder of @fermah_xyz, discussing Fermah’s integration with ZKsync’s Elastic Network for decentralized proof generation: https://x.com/HouseofZK/status/1897219755599085872…
@portport255, Core Contributor at Matter Labs, opened Day 2 with a comprehensive presentation about 'The Current State of zkVMs': https://x.com/HouseofZK/status/1897896468586868811…
Shortly after his presentation, Porter joined a panel discussion on the same topic alongside @diego_aligned, Co-founder of @alignedlayer, @sd_eigen, CTO at @ProjectZKM, @m_ratsim, Cryptography Engineer at @0xLita, and Muthu Venkitasubramaniam, CEO of @ligero_inc. Timestamp - 00:44:58
Anthony also returned again for Day 2, joining a panel discussion on what makes for an optimal proving service, alongside the returning Vanishree, as well as @drouyang of @Snarkify_ZKP and @ssh_nkar of @RiscZero. Timestamp - 02:35:37
Later in the day, @michaelcarilli, Applied Cryptography Engineer at Matter Labs, and Antonio Locascio, Research Engineer at Matter Labs, presented "BoojumOS and Boojum 2.0: ZKsync's Elastic, EVM-compatible protocol and a new RISC-V GPU Prover to power it". Timestamp - 03:47:51
